SUPPORTING BENEFICIAL OWNERSHIP CHAMPIONS PROJECT

GII in collaboration with Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) and the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) is organizing a workshop to review the proposed amendments to the Beneficial Ownership clauses in the Company Acts 2016. The workshop will also validate the report on the independent assessment of Ghana’s legal framework on beneficial ownership. The workshop will also strategize on the various advocacy activities that would have to be to ensure the inclusion of all CSOs concern in the draft BO clauses in the Company (Amendment) Act and when the bill is passed the Regulations to the Act will promote the use of the BO information to fight corruption.

 

The main objective of the project is to promote public sector transparency in the area of corporate governance. It will provide education on the Company Amendment Act 2016 especially to the media and civil society of selected resource rich districts of Ghana.

It will be a one-day non-residential workshop to be held on 27th September, 2017 at Tang Palace Hotel. A total of forty (40) key stakeholders including representatives of Ghana Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) are expected to attend this National Workshop on Beneficial Ownership.
