Francis Bichnord Komla Asong is a Social Worker and the Executive Director of VOICE Ghana, which is one of Ghana’s leading Non Governemental Organisation for persons with disabilities. He has 18 years of experience as a Disability and Civil Rights Advocate, and had a long-standing interest in inclusion and social justice for the marginalized and socially excluded groups, especially persons with disabilities.
He has been involved in a range of management tasks since 2002, and several mainstream social actions and development work. As a result, he is currently serving on the Governing Council of STAR Ghana Foundation and AccessAid Ghana, and now in the Board of Directors for the Ghana Integrity Initiative. Also, he is the Ho Area Coordinator of the Ministry to Persons with Disabilities, spearheaded by the Church of Pentecost.
Francis has featured in a number of national and international conferences, and served as guest speaker in some of these conferences.
He is currently working on a PhD in Management Studies at LIGS University in USA, and holds an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business. He also earned chartered certifications from the Chartered Association of Business Administrators (CABA) in Canada; Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), both in UK, as well as Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML) in USA.
Awards:
Francis received the Africa Continental Award - Welfare and Civil Society Category in 2015 from the CEO Global Titans, South Africa, in recognition of his roles in the civil society sector
in Africa.
He also received the 2018 Community Hero of Philanthropy Award from the National Philanthropy Forum, Accra, Ghana in recognition of his work in the NGO sector. He further received an Alumni Career Achievement Award in 2019 from his former school: the Accra Business School in recognition of his role in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities.
Finally, he has been nominated for a Humanitarian Honour Award in October 2020 by the Humanitarian Awards, Ghana in recognition of his service to humanity.
